Alex McBride

A community and charity champion in every sense of the word
Local communities

Alex McBride exudes selfless qualities that reach the winning line every time he does something for his community and to help others.

He is a remarkable gentleman with ADHD, assisted by a team of support workers to live independently.

Alex is steeped in charity work and fundraising that is countless to name, but here is a head start:

Lockdown Challenge. During the Pandemic, Alex walked 5k every day in a January – even in the snow! His tireless effort raised money for the NHS and his determination was celebrated in his local newspaper and shared widely on social media.

Support for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – Alex undertook an awe-inspiring challenge to climb up Snowdon to help fund swimming lessons for a cousin with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.

Prostate Cancer Awareness. Alex was part of the 10k March for Men in Battersea, raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer research.

Race for Life – this year, he will complete the 5k Race for Life Muddy Challenge in Welwyn Garden City, in June, helping contribute to cancer research efforts.

Likewise, Alex fully supports his community with:

Gardening and environmental work. He has been instrumental in community gardening projects – helping his neighbours clear overgrown gardens, moving soil, and maintaining a positive, can-do attitude.

Mudlarks volunteer. Alex is part of Mudlarks, helping keep Hertford Castle Gardens clear and beautiful and making sure these spaces are enjoyed by everyone. He also took part in delivering Christmas cheers across Hertford.

Dog walking. Alex is always on hand to lend a hand with the dog leash as he supports his neighbours and friends by walking their dogs.

And he also inspires others:

Supporting Martin’s swimming. Alex provides encouragement and support for Martin (the director of Partners in Support) in his swimming journey – demonstrating his willingness to help others succeed.

Alex says,

I am extremely pleased and excited to I have won an awards, and I will continue with my challenges and achievements.

Overall, Alex is a true role model, already looking ahead to his next challenge (in fact, as you read this he is planning another long walk to show his tireless determination to make a difference).
